我母亲，黄瑶珠，生于1932年12月18日，浙江平湖人。母亲自幼聪慧勤奋，很受家人喜爱。上学后因成绩优异，数次跳级。母亲十五岁时，因父亲早逝，家境变故，独自去上海就读伯特利教会护士学校。在校期间，也因学业和表现突出，很受当时的校长，“中国护士之母”伍哲英女士的赏识。毕业后，母亲曾在伯特利医院手术室工作一段时间，并在那里认识了我父亲。不久母亲被调回护士学校开始她的教学生涯。在三十多年教学工作中，母亲先后担任教师，教务处负责人，副校长，校长等职务。除教学工作外，母亲还担任上海市卫生职业技术教育学会副秘书长职务，协助制定上海市中等卫生护士学校各专业教学计划。母亲治学严谨，工作踏实认真，数十年如一日。母亲秉性善良，对弟妹情深谊长。1948年在她去上海求学不久，留在家乡的母亲，一个妹妹和弟弟在内战的空袭中遇难。那是母亲只有十七岁，她开始担当起抚养和培育十三岁的大妹妹黄明珠的责任。她省吃俭用一直把妹妹培养到大学毕业。同时对她七岁和三岁就离开人世的弟妹一直深切缅怀。晚年她常常夜不能寐，思念早世的亲人，有时泣不成声…… 除此之外，她对朋友同事也有求必应，急人所急，待人热情，真诚。记得我很小的时候，母亲就用孔子的“己所不欲 勿施于人”教导我，并以她的实际行动为我和弟弟树立好的榜样。一九八八年母亲退休来美和子女团聚。孙儿出生后，她和爸爸一起为弟弟和弟妹做好后勤保育工作，让弟弟和弟妹在美国打拼有更多的时间和精力。母亲的一生为社会，为家人，为下一代付出了全部的心血。妈妈，安息吧，我们会永远怀念您的！
