Dr. Anca Aldrin, Ph.D. a Romanian born chemical engineer who immigrated from the former Eastern Bloc country to the United States of America in 1991, died at 66 in Los Angeles after valiantly battling cancer. Born on May 13, 1959, in the city of Deva, in what was then-Communist Romania, Dr. Aldrin, born Anca Faur witnessed some of the most trying events in the second half of 20th Century Romanian history, many of which touched her own family. After coming to the United States, Anca Aldrin would earn a Masters in Science and a Ph.D. both in Chemical Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh and spend the next thirty years working for companies such as Union Carbide and Johnson Matthey before meeting the love of her life, Buzz Aldrin. The two were inseparable, sharing a love for science, the United States of America, and their families. Anca is survived by her husband (Brigadier General Buzz Aldrin, United States Air Force, retired), her son (Vlad Ghenciu), daughter in law (Haley Fischbeck), and three granddaughters. Arrangements are under the care of Forest Lawn, Hollywood Hills, CA.
