Zoila “Mama Choi” Fabian was a mother, grandmother, great grandmother, godmother, aunt, and friend. She left this world unexpectedly on December 25, 2024.

She was born in Coatepeque, El Salvador to Jose Claudio Fabian and Cecilia Alvarado de Fabian on January 29th. After completing her studies to become an accounting secretary, she continued her parent's business and owned a bakery in El Salvador.

She was married to Martin Rufino Salazar and she had 3 children: Jose Salvador “Chamba”, Cecilia “Chila” and Claudia “Chata”.

Mama Choi loved spending time with her family, traveling the world, dancing, gardening and making friends. She loved arts and crafts, was well skilled in crotchet and she filled her home with boleros, salsa, cumbia & merengue music. She was a devout catholic, hardworking and very generous.

She is survived by her two daughters, 7 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, several godchildren, and a multitude of extended family and loved ones. Mama Choi leaves a legacy of love, resiliency and laughter. She will be sorely missed and celebrated by all who knew her.

The vigil is scheduled for Thursday, January 16, 2025 from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Forest Lawn - Glendale, 1712 S. Glendale Ave., Glendale, CA 91205 at the Little Church of Flowers.

Catholic mass will be at 9:30 am on Friday, January 17, 2024 at St. Ignatius of Loyola Catholic Church, 322 N. Ave. 61, Los Angeles, CA 90042. Burial services to immediately follow. 

In celebration of Mama Choi’s vibrant life, we kindly ask that you wear bright colors, as she would have wanted to be remembered with joy and positivity. Family members will be wearing the color yellow.

Zoila, Mamá Choi, Fabián fue Madre, Abuela, Bisabuela, Madrina, Tia, y Amiga. Dejó este mundo inesperadamente…el miércoles 25 de diciembre del año 2024.

Nació en Coatepeque departamento de Santa Ana, El Salvador, hija de José Claudio Fabián y Cecilia Alvarado de Fabián, un 29 de enero. 

Después de terminar sus estudios de secretaria contadora continuó el negocio de sus padres llegando a ser dueña de su propia Panadería en la ciudad de Coatepeque. 

Fue casada con el señor Martín Rufino Salazar y tuvieron 3 hijos: José Salvador “Chamba”, Cecilia “Chila”, y Claudia “Chata”. 

Mamá Choi disfrutaba pasar tiempo con su familia, adoraba viajar por el Mundo, bailar, y cuidar de su jardín…nació con el don artístico (con sus manos decoraba, pintaba, creaba objetos con diferentes materiales, logrando una gama original). Ella hacía amigos con facilidad. Con su cuerpo, mente y corazón disfrutó de la música y baile según los diferentes estilos de la Época. 

Desde su ciudad natal vino enriqueciendo y profesando su religión católica. 

Viven sus dos hijas, 7 nietos, 6 bisnietos, multitud de amigos y familiares. Mamá Choi será recordada por todas las personas que compartieron aunque fuera una sonrisa! 

El programa de sus Servicios y Vigilia han sido programados para el Jueves 16 y Viernes 17 de enero del presente año. 

Jueves 16 6:00 pm a 9:00pm para la vigilia en el cementerio “Forest Lawn” 1712 S. Glendale Ave., Glendale, CA 91205 en la capilla “Little Church of Flowers”.

La misa catolica sera el viernes 17 de 9:30 am en St. Ignatius of Loyola Catholic Church, 322 N. Ave. 61, Los Angeles, CA 90042.

En celebracion de su vida, les sujerimos que vista colores vibrantes, ya que ella hubiera querido que la recordaran con alegría y positividad. Los miembros de la familia usarán el color amarillo.
