Zenaida S. Dia

Zenaida S. Dia, 93, departed this life peacefully on the morning of May 13, the feast day of Our Lady of Fatima, at home in Chino Hills, surrounded by her loved ones. Beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, she was known as a humble and giving person, caring about and for all those around her.
Zenaida was born July 8, 1921, in Malabon, Rizal, the Philippines, to Santiago and Maria Pablo Salamante, the second of eight children. She worked from the age of 16, upon the passing of her father, helping to support the family. She continued to work tirelessly after her marriage to the late Federico Nadres Dia in 1957 until her retirement at age 67.
Mrs. Dia is survived by daughter Maria Rosario Kiso (Wayne) of Claremont, California, son Gil Moises (Maria), daughter Ana Liza Marfori (Viron), stepdaughters Virginia Sheffield and Maria Luisa Dia (Raymond Villanueva), ten grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. She is also survived by brother Mario Surla, three sisters, Ofelia Sangalang, Dely LaMott, and Tessie Aquino, and nieces and nephews.
The family will host a visitation and viewing at Forest Lawn Covina Hills on May 28 and 29, 2015, from 10:00 am to 9:00 pm on both days. A funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, May 30, 2015, at 9:30 am, also at Forest Lawn Covina Hills, with interment immediately following.
