Yi Sun, born on March 13, 1964, in Seoul, South Korea, passed away on June 6, 2026. She graced the world with her gentle spirit and kind heart for over six decades, leaving a lasting imprint on all who knew her. Yi was known as a wonderful aunt to her many nieces and nephews, a role she embraced with boundless love and devotion.
Throughout her life, Yi nurtured a passion for simple joys that brought light to those around her. She loved to listen to music and sing, finding comfort and happiness in melodies that touched the soul. Her warmth extended into the kitchen, where she delighted in cooking her family’s favorite meals. Among these, Japanese curry and kimchi chigae were special dishes she prepared with care and affection for her siblings and nieces and nephews, creating cherished moments around the family table.
Yi’s career as assistant to Edith in her hair salon was marked by dedication and kindness. She supported her sister’s work with grace, always ready to help and bring a smile to others. Her presence was a soothing balm in the bustling environment of the salon, reflecting the gentle nature that defined her.
Yi is survived by her loving family: her father, Shih Jye Sun, and mother, Cheng Mei Sun; her younger brothers, John Sun and Andy Sun, along with their wives, Josie Sun and Betsy Sun respectively; and her nieces and nephews—Evangelynn and Nathaniel, children of John and Josie; Joshua and Samantha, children of Andy and Betsy; as well as her young sister Edith Sun, her husband Simon Ho, and their son Christopher Chu. Each of these family members carries a part of Yi’s spirit forward, woven through their lives in countless tender memories.
A funeral service to honor Yi’s life will be held on June 25, 2026, from 3:30 PM until 4:00 PM at Forest Lawn - Covina Hills, located at 21300 Via Verde Drive, Covina, California. Friends and family are welcome to gather in remembrance of a life so beautifully lived.
Yi Sun’s legacy is one of quiet strength, boundless love, and a gentle kindness that touched every life she encountered. Though she has departed from this world, her memory remains deeply etched in the hearts of those who loved her. In remembering Yi, we celebrate a life filled with love, music, and the simple, profound joy of togetherness.
