Yan Kit Dea, 78, born on March 16, 1948, in Guandong, China, passed away July 14, 2026. Yan Kit immigrated to the United States in 1972, with his mother, his mother Kan Toy to reunite with his father, Tung Fong in Los Angeles. It was through mutual friends that he met his wife, Kwan Yi 吳坤儀, and married in Hong Kong on July 7, 1975. Over the next four decades, Yan Kit built a career in the restaurant industry, starting at J&R Cafe and later opening and managing the Fortune Cookie Restaurant in Hollywood. He was also a devoted family man and spent the beginnings of his family life in North Hollywood in the 1980's and 1990's and then moved to Monterey Park in the early 2000's. He resided in Monterey Park, CA at the time of his passing.

Yan Kit Dea is survived by his wife Kwan Yi (Ng) Dea of 51 years; daughter Florence 謝 秀 鳳 and her husband Ray Tanaka; daughter Frances 謝秀婷 and her husband Patrick Sanchez; son Johnson 謝 伯 賢 and his wife Amanda Hong; and his three grandchildren Zachary, Jacob, and Colin.

He is predeceased by his father Tung Fong Dea, his mother Kan Toy Jew Dea, and brother Frank Yu Kit Dea.

Arrangements are under the care of Forest Lawn, Glendale.
