Xiansun Zhang

Xiansun Zhang (Mar 1940 - Dec 2024) passed away in Oakland, California at the age of 84. Xiansun led a rich and varied life, working as a carpenter, actor, musician, drama play director, and business owner. He was a man of many talents and passions, known for his love of music, his devotion to his family, and his strong faith. Xiansun was actively involved in his church community, where he shared his kindness and dedication with others.

Xiansun majored in Chinese instruments and was particularly skilled in playing many of them, including the trapezoidal yangqin, the sheng, and the erhu. His deep appreciation for music brought joy to many, and he often shared his talent as both a performer and a director of dramatic stage productions. He also occasionally enjoyed net sea fishing as a hobby, finding peace and joy in nature.

Xiansun is survived by his loving wife, Li Jiang, and their three children: Yi Zhang, Ying Zhang, and Henry Zhang. He was also a devoted grandfather to six grandchildren: Christina Zhang, Edward Zhang, Yulin Zhang, Angela Zhou, Alex Zhou, and Chailyn Zhang.

Xiansun enjoyed spending time with his family, playing basketball, and cooking. His enthusiasm for life, his many interests, and his warm spirit touched the lives of all who knew him. His craftsmanship, musical gifts, and unwavering faith left a lasting impact on his family, friends, and community.

Xiansun will be deeply missed by all whose lives he touched.

A memorial service to celebrate Xiansun's life will be held on December 23, 2024, at Forest Lawn, Covina Hills, California.
