Winny Hannanta, age 82, of Arcadia, previously of Hacienda Heights, passed away on the evening of November 11, 2018 at the Methodist Hospital in Arcadia, California.
Winny Hoedaya Hannanta also known as Hoo Siok Hiang was born on April 29, 1936 in Jakarta, Indonesia, to her late parents, Tisna and Ana Hoedaya. She lived in Bogor where she grew up with her 6 siblings, Ann, Lee, the late Ed, Babe also known as Koswara, the late Ron, and Danu.
Winny was very active, being involved in the Scouts and numerous outdoor activities and sports such as hiking in the mountains, swimming, tennis, volleyball, and softball. She had a passion for cooking and had perfected her many recipes throughout the years including her famous pudding with eggnog-like sauce which was highly sought after especially during the holidays. In her younger days after college, Winny had taught cooking in home economics classes for young girls. She had an active social life and enjoyed hosting social gatherings with her siblings. It was then that one of her brothers introduced her to her beloved husband, Riang Hannanta also known as Tjioe Hoo Hien. After a long courtship, the two were married on April 3, 1975. Winny and Riang lived a wonderful life in Jakarta where they had their 2 daughters, Kara and Tara. In January 1988, their little family moved to America where they resided in California, starting in Pasadena and ended in Hacienda Heights. Winny was involved and became the Office Administrator for Indonesian Business Society, a non profit organization. She was a perfectionist and had a passion for planning and hosting social gathering events for IBS, where she flourished during her tenure there of 11 years before she retired and dedicated herself to being a stay at home wife and mother.
After a heart wrenching loss of her beloved husband to cancer, Winny moved to Arcadia. This was where she lived out her remaining years doting on her 2 precious granddaughters, Madeline and Zoe.
Winny Hannanta, age 82, passed on November 11, 2018. She had her 2 loving daughters by her side during her last hours. She was survived by her daughters, Kara (Husband: Denny) and Tara, her granddaughters, Madeline and Zoe, her remaining siblings, Ann, Lee, Babe, and Danu, her sister in law, Irma, and her nieces and nephews.
Winny will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband, Riang, at Forest Lawn Memorial in Glendale, California.
