Wilma Jean Ifland Kearey

Wilma passed away on September 1, 2017 in San Marcos, California. Wilma was born 8/31/1930 in Huron, South Dakota. She attended grade school and high school in Huron. Soon after graduation, she relocated to Los Angeles, CA where her father resided. Friends arranged for an interview at North American Aviation (NAA) and her future begins. On a blind date in 1953, she met Edward Kearey who also worked at NAA. They had a great time on the date and continued dating and were married on April 16, 1955 in Las Vegas, NV.

Their first baby Kathleen Ann was born on March 15, 1958 in Inglewood, CA. By then they had moved into a home in Torrance, CA. Other children soon followed: Karen Diana on June 26, 1961 and Cynthia Jean on January 18, 1963. Other important times in her life were the births of their grandchildren, Bryan, Jason and Kristine Smith, AJ, KC and CC May and Jacob, Caleb and Seth Fletcher.

Wilma was a Girl Scout leader for 9 years when her girls were growing up. She and Ed also became square dancers in 1967, which became an important part of their lives for the next 40 years. In the early 70's Wilma began working part time and later full time for Tupperware Home Parties. She soon qualified for a new station wagon, which was replaced every two years. She continued in Tupperware sales for 28 years. The other benefits of her Tupperware job were the fact that she could arrange her work hours around the family events including Girl Scouts and square dancing. She finally retired in 1996 after she and Ed moved to Big Bear Lake, CA. Her other hobbies included decorative painting and sewing.

Arrangements are under the direction of Forest Lawn, Cypress, California and will be held on Monday, September 11th at 2pm PT. A Celebration of Life event is being held immediately following at Old Ranch County Club in Seal Beach California.
