Wilma was born December 10, 1932 to John and Adriana Meyerink at their home in Platte, South Dakota. She will be buried at Forest Lawn, next to her husband.

Many people expressed fondness in knowing Wilma. She had a deep faith and loved spending time with family. She was always happy in the presence of her siblings, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Wilma attended grade school in Darlington township, Platte, South Dakota, for eight years, Platte High School for one year, and then Western Christian High School in Hall, Iowa for three years. She attended college at Southern State Teachers College for two summers in Springfield, Nebraska, and Augustine College in Sioux Falls, South Dakota for three summers. In between, Wilma taught in the Springfield and Forbes schools. She also taught school in California, near her sister Leona, and one year in Abbotsford, Canada.

Wilma met her husband, John Willard Hasseler, in the winter of 1949. They were married in Sumas, Washington in 1954 and lived in Abbottsford. They moved to Pierre, South Dakota in 1954, and then to California in 1957.

To this union was born six children: Kelvin John and Melvin Lynn (twins), Maurice Edward, Eldon William, Sandra Dee and Judith Adine. Survivors include Kelvin (Glenda) Brent, Bradley, Brian; Melvin (Shelly) Amanda, Melanie, Melissa, Megan and Morgan (twins); Maurice (Bonnie) Justin; Eldon (Paula) Lauren, David, Elisa; Sandra (Jeff) Erika, Candace; Judy (Terry) Daniel; and fourteen great grandchildren, with two on the way.

Wilma and family lived in Los Angeles, Artesia, and the majority of years in Cypress, California. She moved in 2014 to Wildomar, California.

In her final years she was cared for by the wonderful staff at Wildomar, her eldest son and wife, her daughters and the rest of her family.

She is survived by her sisters Lillian, Martha, Adrena, and Irene, and by all of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
