William C. Reigel

February 11, 1936 — January 19, 2022

If you asked a hundred people who William C. Reigel, a.k.a. Bill was, you would get lots of different answers including a lover of dogs, hero, amazing man, Christian, and the kindest man on earth. Bill peacefully went to Heaven, with his wife Kathy at his side, on January 19, 2022. He was just shy of his 86th birthday. A life well lived.

Bill was born to William Reigel and Evelyn (Rheinhold) on February 11, 1936 in Rockford, Ill. In 1959 he moved his family to California. In 1985 he married Kathy which brought together a beautiful blended family. His love for the heat and the desert found him moving to Arizona after retirement where he and Kathy spent almost 25 years; he found solace there. Wanting to keep Kathy happy as he always did, they returned to California where he lived out the remainder of his life. This also allowed him to be surrounded by nearby family – a lot of them!

His work ethic and desire to take care of his family led him to work two jobs for over thirty years. He retired from the City of Covina where he worked full time in the Maintenance Division of the Parks and Recreation Department and janitor at the Covina Unified School District twenty hours a week for almost as many years. Upon moving to Arizona, he found himself still wanting to work and continued another seven years with the Mohave School District where you would also find his wife working. You just couldn't separate the two of them!

Bill loved adventures, dancing (especially the twist!), road trips, boating, RVing, dune buggies, but most of all he loved his family and friends.

Bill is survived by his wife, Kathleen; children Dawn Williams, Randy Reigel, Melodee Hornbostel (Phillip) Tracy Reigel, Lisa Carter (Scott), and Andy Reigel (Cathy); stepchildren Dorothy Leadbetter (Roy), Carrie Godber, Chad Sandel (Diane), Glen Sandel (Lisa), and Sue Sandel; and nephew George Tuttle. He was honored to have many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

A visitation will be held Wednesday, February 9th from 2-6 p.m., a graveside service on February 10th at 12:00 p.m. (meet at 11:45 a.m. at the entrance for procession), with Barry Braun officiating at Forest Lawn. A Life Well Lived celebration will be held immediately following at Country Club Mobile Home Park.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests a memorial donation to your favorite animal rescue. Bill's was the SPCA.
