Bill Puhl, a man of strength, dedication, and unwavering love for his family, departed this world on September 4, 2023, after a valiant battle against a long illness. Born on February 24, 1940, in Waterloo, IA, Bill's journey through life was marked by remarkable achievements and countless memories that will forever remain etched in the hearts of those he touched.
Bill's professional career spanned an impressive 42 years at GTE/Verizon, where he dedicated himself to his work with unwavering commitment. His exemplary work ethic and passion for excellence earned him the prestigious title of Employee of the Year in both 2005 and 2007. Bill's contribution to his profession was invaluable, leaving an indelible mark on all those who had the honor of working alongside him.
A true pillar of strength and support to his loved ones, Bill always went above and beyond to show his unwavering dedication as a husband, father, and grandfather. His wife Betty was his steadfast partner in life through thick and thin. Together they created a loving home where cherished memories were forged.
Bill's children, Angela, Brian, and Jeff, were incredibly fortunate to have such a caring father who guided them with wisdom and unconditional love. From their earliest steps to their most significant achievements in life, Bill was there every step of the way. His impact on their lives is immeasurable.
The legacy of Bill's kindness and warmth extends beyond his immediate family. Grandchildren Amy, Anika & Samantha were showered with love and encouragement at every turn by their beloved "Da." He celebrated their victories with unmatched enthusiasm and never missed an opportunity to cheer them on in their performances or sporting events.
In addition to his professional accomplishments and devotion to family life, Bill served his country with distinction as a member of the Marine Corps for six years. His service to the nation exemplified his unwavering commitment and selflessness.
Outside of his professional pursuits and military service, Bill found joy and relaxation in simple pleasures. He enjoyed the company of loved ones while sipping RC Cola, often accompanied by lively banter and laughter, especially when his beloved Green Bay Packers took to the football field. His genuine sense of humor was infectious, lifting spirits and bringing joy to all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
The impact of Bill's warm personality was immeasurable. Kind and welcoming, he possessed an innate ability to make others feel at ease in his company. His radiant smile could light up a room, serving as a beacon of comfort during trying times and a source of inspiration in moments of difficulty.
As we bid farewell to our dear Bill, let us remember him as a pillar of strength, a cherished companion, a loving father, grandfather, and friend. May his memory be held dear by all those fortunate enough to have been touched by his presence.
