William Carlton Manger

William passed away on December 27, 2016, survived by his sister Kathi (Dean), his six children, William (Laurey), Robert, Michael (Karen), Steven, Jeffrey (Courtney) & Kristine, six grandchildren, Christopher (Bree), Michael, Ashlie, Kaela, Chelsea, Vance & great-granddaughters Odessa & Emerson as well as numerous cousins, nephews/nieces & great nephews/nieces. William was born in Los Angeles, moved to Palm Springs as a young boy and soon thereafter met Judith Joy Watlet who he married in 1956 and was only separated after 55 years upon her passing in 2012. William graduated from Palm Springs High School as Senior Class President in 1955; in 1957, he joined the Palm Springs Police Department and served for 33 years in Law Enforcement retiring as Lieutenant-Investigation Division Commander. During his time as a Palm Springs Police Officer he continued his education and received a Master's Degree from Pepperdine University. After retirement, he continued his commitment to public service as a background investigator for prospective new hires for over seven years at Palm Springs P.D. He was most recently a Eucharistic Minister to the sick for Sacred Heart Church, Palm Desert, CA. Memorial service will be held Friday, January 13, 2017 at 2:00 p.m.; Sacred Heart Church 43-775 Deep Canyon Road, Palm Desert, CA and a celebration of life to be held at Hilton Palm Springs, 400 East Tahquitz Canyon Way, Palm Springs, CA 92262 following the Memorial Service.
