William Edward Joyce

William Edward Joyce, 86, of Desert Edge, Calif. passed away November 22, 2013 in San Diego, Calif. He was born September 23, 1927, to William Martin Joyce and Naomi Leek in Frostburg, Md. He married Lorna Marie Wellings on September 21, 1946 in Frostburg. He worked for ABL Aerospace for 40 years. He was a member of the VFW. He served in the United States Army from October 12, 1946 to March 31, 1948 as a PFC. He received the WWII Victory Medal, the Army of Occupation Japan Medal as an A/B Parachutist and Rifleman and Machine Gun Marksman. He is survived by his sons, Gary Joyce of Twentynine Palms, Calif. and James Joyce of Big Bear, Calif.; daughter in-law Donna Joyce of Twentynine Palms; son in-law Jack Draper of Big Bear; sisters, Naomi Smith of Baton Rouge, La.; Ann Marie and Patsy; two grandchildren; two great grand-children; four step grandchildren and seven step great-grandchildren. A Memorial Service in his honor will be held on Thursday, December 12, 2013 at 12:00pm, at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Cathedral City, Calif. followed by placement at the mausoleum at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family suggests that donations be made to your favorite charity.
