William Newton Diehl

William Newton Diehl III passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on February 11, 2015 in Santa Clarita, CA. He was born to William Newton Diehl Jr. and Violet Diehl in West Fairview, PA on January 18, 1940.

William graduated from West Fairview High School in 1957 and joined the Air Force shortly thereafter. He married Alma Lois McAllister on December 17, 1960 and after being honorably discharged from the Air Force, William and Alma moved to California, eventually settling in Saugus, CA in April 1969.

For over 30 years William worked repairing computers for RCA/Sperry-Univac and then spent about ten years working as an auto mechanic. He eventually retired in 2005 and spent his remaining years relaxing, taking long walks, reading about everything related to science and history and what he loved most: spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren.

William is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Alma, his daughters: Elizabeth (Scott) McCormack and Patricia (Peter) Rodriguez; his grandchildren and lights of his life: Olivia Rodriguez, Kyle McCormack, Kyra McCormack and Sofia Rodriguez. He is also survived by his brothers Francis Diehl and Robert Diehl and sister Marge Sheffer of PA. William was preceded in death by his parents William and Violet Diehl and his brother Charles Diehl.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, February 22, 2015 at Forest Lawn, Hollywood Hills with private interment services being held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Heart and Stroke Association.
