William Agnew, 87, of Yucca Valley, passed away Aug. 14, 2014, in Joshua Tree of natural causes.
He was born Nov. 25, 1926, to William Agnew Sr. and Blanche Wiley in Washington, Pennsylvania. He married Jerry Flinn Agnew on Dec. 26, 1957, in North Hollywood. He was a warehouse supervisor for 20 years.
Mr. Agnew was a member of the American Legion, the NRA and Teamsters. He served in the United States Army from 1949 to 1955.
He was active in the Yucca Valley community and served on the Municipal Advisory Council prior to incorporation. He also served on the Community Center Authority, was vice president of the Hi-Desert Water District Improvement Corp. board, was a court-appointed director of the Warren Basin Watermaster board, was a member of Mojave Water Agency's technical advisory committee and co-chaired the Save Our Park Committee for Desert Christ Park.
Mr. Agnew was very active in getting the Morongo Basin Pipeline built and the bond that financed it passed.
He is survived by his wife, Jerry Agnew of Yucca Valley. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Kathleen Agnew Clark.
A funeral service will be held at noon Monday, Aug. 25, followed by entombment at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, 69855 East Ramon Road, Cathedral City, CA 92234. Forest Lawn Cathedral City is in charge of arrangements.
