It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Wilfredo Viray, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, departed this world on November 7, 2024, at the age of 79. Born on February 2, 1945, in Pangasinan, Philippines, Wilfredo’s journey was one marked by passion, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to his family and community.
For over 30 years, Wilfredo worked diligently as an aerospace mechanical engineer at Hydro Mill, where his innovative ideas and relentless spirit played a significant role in advancing the field. His dedication to his career paralleled his love for his family, as he took immense pride in being able to provide them the American dream—an accomplishment he treasured deeply.
A graduate of FEATI University, Wilfredo earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1966. He was not only a diligent student but also an active member of the Friendship Society and served as the Senior Class Organizer, illustrating his strong belief in leadership and community spirit.
Wilfredo was known for his warmth and kindness, particularly towards his grandchildren. He was always there to care for his grandchildren offering wisdom, compassion, and moments of joy that will forever be cherished. His legacy of love extends to Julia, Nathaniel, Christian, and Joseph Gareth, who will carry forward the invaluable lessons he imparted.
Beyond his professional and family pursuits, Wilfredo enjoyed engaging with life through hobbies such as donating to local casinos, where he found both excitement and community engagement. Those who knew him would describe him as a man of great conviction, whose courage and positive outlook inspired those around him, a sentiment echoed by Gloria Paradero.
Wilfredo leaves behind his dear wife, Yolanda Viray, and his loving sons, Christopher and Andrew Viray, along with their spouses, Wennie and Jhenn Rodriguez. He is remembered fondly by his mother, Teodora Viray, and his siblings: Emilio, Rosemarie, Raquel, Elvie, Annabelle, and Nali Viray and more. His family circle is made complete by his grandsons, Nathaniel, Christian, and Joseph Gareth, and his precious granddaughter, Julia.
He joins in eternal rest with his father, Narciso Viray; his daughter, Rizalyn Viray; and his brother, Jaime Viray.
The community is invited to honor Wilfredo’s life during the funeral service, which will be held on December 6, 2024, at the Forest Lawn - Hollywood Hills - Old North Church in Los Angeles, California. Family and friends may gather starting at 2:30 PM to celebrate a life so well-lived, filled with dedication to his craft and love for his family.
Wilfredo Viray will be profoundly missed, but his spirit and the memories created will live on forever in the hearts of all who had the privilege to know him.
