Plaistow: Wilfred C. Senter, 97, a longtime resident of Plaistow, died peacefully Wednesday morning, January 6, 2016 at his home.

Born in Plaistow, son of the late Charles W. and Lillian (Dunn) Senter, he attended local schools including the Pollard School. He served proudly in the United State Army as a Private First Class during World War II and was a recipient of The Purple Heart, The European African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon with Two Bronze Service Stars, The Good Conduct Medal, The World War Two Victory Medal, The American Theater Ribbon, The Combat Infantry Badge and The Distinguished Unit Badge.

He was employed as a young man first at the Portsmouth Naval Yard and later at Burns Automotive. In 1954 he founded Senter Auto Supply and served as President and co-owner, and was also a founding member and Past Director of Plaistow Bank and Trust Co.

An avid reader and devoted grandfather, he also enjoyed camping especially in his R.V, gardening and playing cribbage.

Mr. Senter was predeceased by his sons, Wilfred L. "Butch" Senter in 1989 and Randy J. Senter in 1993, and by his daughter-in-law Marcelle (Lord) Senter.
He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife Shirley (Mason) Senter, his three grandchildren, Bonnie L. Dudas and her husband Robert of Derry, Scott A. Senter and his wife Carolyn of East Kingston, and Maggie Senter of Erie, PA, his brother Bernard "Dick" Senter of Plaistow, his sister Virginia "Jackie" Richards of Plaistow, six great grandchildren, two great great grandsons, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Private funeral services will be held at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main St., Plaistow. Burial with Military Honors will take place in the Atkinson Cemetery in the Spring. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial donations be made to Saint Jude Children's Hospital, 501 Saint Jude Place, Memphis, TN.
