Wesley Gabay Alarcio

August 8, 1951 — May 1, 2022

Wesley Gabay Alarcio, 70, born on August 8, 1951, in Laoac, Pangasinan, Philippines, passed away May 1, 2022 in Los Angeles, California after several years in a vegetative state. He resided in Long Beach, CA at the time of his passing. Arrangements are under the direction of Forest Lawn, Long Beach, California. He was born to the late Pedro Alarcio Sr. and Dominga Gabay in 1951. He had many brothers and sisters. According to his siblings, he was very good at math and was valedictorian from 1st to 6th grade. Although he lived with his grandpa during elementary school and high school, he was also very close with his late mother. He graduated from high school in Manaoag, Pangasinan in 1970.
---
After high school, Wesley worked in Manila. Not too soon after, he was awarded the certificate for basic military training and over the next decade would continue to earn everything from a course certificate from Oriel Vocational School in Diesel Mechanics to special intelligence certificates to a Defensive Driving Seminar Certificate awarded at Nichols Air Base in Pasay City.
---
In the 1980s, Wesley would immigrate to America. In the 1990s, he worked for a time as a Sales Representative for Surety Life among other technical roles through the late nineties when he met his future wife, Ligaya, at a Union Espiritista Cristiana church service. They would go on to marry and have one child, Rachel Alarcio.
---
He enjoyed the company of his family and friends, often at church or church-affiliated events. Called a good worker by his co-workers and awarded Employee of the Month by Electi-Tech Services, Inc., he had a strong work ethic which opened many doors here in America. Even with a family, he continued to be a life-long learner, earning several Glendale Community College District Continuing and Community Education and Bookmark Education certificates. In addition to his wife Ligaya Alarcio and his only child Rachel Alarcio, he is survived by many brothers, sisters, nieces, and nephews.

What Is A Dad?
From laughingcolours.com
---
A dad is someone who
wants to catch you before you fall
but instead picks you up,
brushes you off,
and lets you try again.
---
A dad is someone who
wants to keep you from making mistakes
but instead lets you find your own way,
even though his heart breaks in silence
when you get hurt
---
A dad is someone who
holds you when you cry,
scolds you when you break the rules,
shines with pride when you succeed,
and has faith in you even when you fail…

Who Was My Dad?
By Rachel Alarcio
---
My dad was someone who
encouraged their kid to follow
their passion for poetry
even though they didn't inherit
his skill with numbers and equations
---
My dad was someone who
was always behind the camera,
faithfully capturing precious moments
as I grew and who helped seven-year-old
me ace my times tables
---
My dad was someone who
wore Hawaiian shirts with tropical
prints for the fun of it, who listened
without judgment, and who chose
his words with care
