Wendell Eugene Couch

Wendell Eugene Couch, 91, born on September 18, 1930, passed away Sunday, March 13, 2022 in his sleep.

Wendell was born to Everett and Eva (Long) Couch in Exeter, Nebraska, the youngest of seven children (5 boys and 2 girls). He was baptized in First Christian Church September 1942. He graduated from Exeter High School in May 1947.

Wendell served in the U.S. Navy from 1949 to 1953 on the U.S.S. Boxer during the Korean War as an Electronic Technician. Some time after his discharge in 1953, he began his career with GTE, having served in several capacities as a management employee. He retired in 1988 after serving a total of thirty-five years.

Wendell enjoyed watching sports, especially football. He was a fervent fan of the Nebraska Cornhuskers. He also enjoyed online activities such as playing the classic card game "Hearts" with others around the world. He also had a "Facebook" account in which, on many occasions, he was sent to "Facebook jail" on time-outs, and proudly so.

Wendell is survived by his wife, Rosemarie; daughters Carol (Mark Kays) De La Torre and Lisa (Wallace) Wheadon; son David (Tina Hofmann) Couch; grandchildren, Kristin, Shane, Tanya, Kristen, Heather, Nathan, Danielle, Stephanie, Colton, Rachel; and 10 great-grandchildren. Wendell was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, and daughter Kelly Irons.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, April 16th, 2022, 9am
