Walter Babcock Palmer Ii

Walter Babcock Palmer II, 69, born on August 2, 1949, in Long Beach , California, passed away November 25, 2018. He resided in Cerritos, California at the time of his passing.

Walter served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War era, although he did not see combat during his term of service. He earned a BS in Nuclear Physics from Loma Linda University and an MS in Computer Science from California State University Fullerton. He worked in the aerospace industry for decades, first through Hughes Aircraft, then as a consultant, and finally through his own corporation Aero Data Systems, Inc.

He was a gun enthusiast who loved visiting national parks, especially Yellowstone. He liked bicycling, camping at Morro Bay, and road trips. He loved watching John Wayne movies and any WWII films. He spent a lot of time hanging out at Disneyland. For many years, he celebrated his wedding anniversary by attending the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas.

He was deeply loved and is survived by his wife of more than 46 years, Cecilia, and by his son, Walter Babcock Palmer III. He is also survived by his sister Bonnie and her husband John Thiel, MD of Redlands, CA; brother Charles Brown of Winters, TX; sister-in-law Susan Gath of Campbell, CA; sister-in-law Theresa and her husband Ben Waitzman of Salida, CA; brother-in-law Jim Gath and his wife Joy of San Ramon, CA; and sister-in-law Donna and her husband Tom Herrera of Las Vegas, NV. Among those who will also miss him are his nephews Ted, David, Chris, Travis, and Kenny and his nieces Natalie and Mary.

Arrangements are under the direction of Forest Lawn, Cypress, California. Services will be held at Concordia Lutheran Church, 13633 183rd Street, Cerritos, CA on Monday, December 10, at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow at 2:00 PM at Riverside National Cemetery.
