Derry, NH:  Walter F. Gosse, 99, a former longtime resident of Plaistow for forty-five years and Hampstead for five years, died Saturday, April 28, 2012 at Pleasant Valley Nursing Home in Derry, NH.

Born on June 21, 1912 in Brooklyn, New York, son of the late Israel T. and Susan (Stowbridge) Gosse, he attended local schools and graduated from Brooklyn High School.  After high school he worked at the Brokerage House in Brooklyn.  He went on to become a Merchant Marine in the United States Coast Guard during WWII, serving as a Purser.

Mr. Gosse worked as a health inspector for the former State Farm Bureau, he also worked as a mutuals agent at Rockingham Park and was the manager of the State Liquor Store in Plaistow, NH for many years until his retirement.  He also volunteered for several years as a driver for Caregivers of Salem, NH.      

He was a member of the Gideon Lodge of Masons #84 in Kingston.  He enjoyed gardening and reading.  His favorite vacation spots were the beaches of Maine and the Island of Aruba.

Mr. Gosse was predeceased by his wife, Edna H. (Jenness) Gosse.  He will be dearly missed by his adopted family, Harry and Claudina Goss of East Hampstead, NH, Edward and Margaret Goss of Danville, Denise and Richard Easton of Kennett Square, PA, adopted grandchildren Steven Goss, Matthew Goss, Thomas Goss, Claudia Easton, Megan Peeler and Adam Peeler, great grandchildren Andrew Goss and Madelyn Goss, and several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to call on Thursday, May 3, 2012 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main Street, Rte. 121A, Plaistow, NH.  His funeral service will be held Friday at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home.  Burial will follow at Plaistow Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in his name to: American Foundation for the Blind, 2 Penn Plaza, Suite 1102, New York, NY 10121 Attn: Resource Development or The American Cancer Society, 2 Commerce Drive, Suite 110, Bedford, NH  03110.  Send online condolences at www.brooksidechapelfh.com.
