Viva C. "Penny" Dieringer, 75, Palm Desert, CA died on July 23, 2012 at Odyssey Hospice in Rancho Mirage, CA.

She was born Dec. 26, 1936, in Skykomish, WA, to the late Joseph and Marvel (Pickett) Joyce. She spent her early life in Washington. She attended Seattle University, where she met her husband, the late Andrew M. Dieringer. They married on April 26, 1958 in Seattle. Following marriage they settled in Waterford, until their retirement in Palm Desert, CA.

She received her teaching degree from UW-Whitewater. She taught for over 25 years at Fox River Middle School in Waterford, WI. She was a dedicated teacher, who believed hard work and stern discipline helped children to be their best. She was an avid WI Badger and Green Bay Packer football fan. She always enjoyed a nice cocktail or glass of white wine, and loved to dine out.

Penny was a member of St. Clare Catholic Church, Wind Lake, until 1990. She was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church from 1990-2004, where she enjoyed "counting money," on Mondays.

Survivors include her daughters, Therese (Allen Goda) Dieringer, Redlands, CA, Suzanne (Tracy) Breneman, Orfordville,WI;Karen (Doug) Norrick, Wind Lake,WI; grandchildren, Rita and Mackenzie Breneman, Orfordville, Carter, Reese and Elena Norrick, Wind Lake; two sisters and a brother-in-law; numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband.

A funeral mass is planned for 11:00 am Thursday, Aug. 2, 2012 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Palm Desert, CA. The reverend Fr.EugeneSpeno will officiate. Forest Lawn Memorial Parks & Mortuaries, Cathedral City, CA, handled arrangements.

Memorials to the American Cancer Society are suggested.
