Virginia June Thompson

August 30, 1933 — October 30, 2017

Virginia June Thompson, 84, born on August 30, 1933, in Cincinnati, OH, passed away at home with her daughter Tami at her side on October 30, 2017 after a long battle with Parkinson's disease.

At the age of 6 her older sister Betty died. In 1951, she married Hugh and they moved to California in 1955, living in Hollywood until they bought a home in Anaheim and completed their family with 2 dogs and the birth of their only child. Her parents, John & Dorothy Hancock moved to California in the late 50's and settled in Barstow.

Hugh & Virginia found their dream home in what would later become Anaheim Hills in 1965 and lived there for the next 45 years until landslides forced her to move. People told her she would tire of the view from her home but she never did and would drive to see what new developments filled the horizon as north Orange County grew.

Virginia's love of geography made her an exceptional navigator and eventually she traveled the world. She found strength she didn't know she had when Hugh had his first stroke and she was forced to learn how to drive in her 40's and become his caregiver all while raising a teenage daughter.

She was a gentle, caring and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She is survived by her daughter Tami and husband Stewart Dunham and grandsons Harrison & Connor. Her legacy also includes a 99-year-old aunt, 7 cousins, 2 step-sisters and numerous friends.

Funeral services: a small crypt side service will be held at Forest Lawn, Cypress on Friday Nov 10 at 8:30am. A celebration of life is planned for Sunday, December 17th. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Parkinson's foundation www.parkinson.org.
