Virginia L. (Hilton) Sheppard, of Kingston, NH passed away on Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at Rockingham County Nursing Home in Brentwood, NH.
She was born in Boston, MA the daughter of the late Atwood and Edith (Edgett) Hilton. She was raised and educated in Beverly, MA with the exception of spending the 8th grade school year in a one-room schoolhouse while she and her family were living in New Brunswick, Canada.
She was a life-long member of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church, first in Beverly, MA and most recently in Bradford, MA.
Virginia had worked at the former Custeau's Market in Plaistow, NH and Star Market in Beverly, MA.
She loved all of the many cats and dogs that she had throughout her life. She was a voracious reader who joked that she had read everything in the Beverly Library. Virginia really enjoyed scouting flea markets and countless yard sales with her husband, Albert. They often set up as sellers at the Todd Farm in Rowley, MA and the former roller rink flea market in Newington, NH, where they made many good friends. She loved shopping trips with her daughter, Lisa. She especially enjoyed their trips to the old Jordan Marsh in Peabody, MA where they would go to the ladies hat department and try on all the fancy hats while laughing hysterically. She and Al would frequently take a quick afternoon drive to Swasey Parkway in Exeter, NH, sit in the shade, have an ice cream, and watch the kayakers and crew teams on the Exeter River. Some of her favorite trips were driving through the Mohawk Trail and the White Mountains in the fall, and visiting her relatives still living in New Brunswick, Canada.
Virginia is survived by her husband of 47 years, Albert C. Sheppard of Kingston, NH. Her daughter, Lisa B. Fish and her husband, Donald of Plaistow, NH. Her son, Kenneth Remare and his wife Mattie of South Dakota. Her grandchildren; Christopher Brown, Chloe Fish and Steven Remare. Her great-grandchildren, Skylar Remare and Lukas Remare also survive her.
Her family wishes to thank the staff at Rockingham County Nursing Home and the RVNA for their kindness and compassionate care of Virginia.
