Virginia “Ginny” Lynne Marshall Gasparre, 77, of La. Crescenta, California, passed away peacefully on July 8, 2025. A celebration of her beautiful life will be held on Friday, August 1st at 9:30 AM at Forest Lawn Hollywood Hills.
Ginny was born on December 9, 1947, in the South Shore neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois. In 1963, she moved with her family to Glendale, California, where she graduated from Herbert Hoover High School in 1965 and studied business at Glendale Community College. Over the decades, she made her home in many corners of Los Angeles before settling in La Crescenta, California.
A woman of many hobbies and interests, Ginny lived a life of sincere curiosity. Over the years, she explored and found an affinity for photography, writing, gardening, painting, cooking, baking, collecting, and even took a swing at tennis and golf. She loved board and card games with a competitive flair: Sequence, Scrabble, and Pinochle were her specialties (and if you played any game with her, she would kick your butt with a big smile on her face). Over the course of her life, she filled her home with creativity, warmth, and a sense of play.
Photography was one of Ginny’s greatest joys, especially when it meant capturing moments with her family. Whether it was a quiet dinner at home or a bustling Christmas celebration, Ginny could be counted on to appear with her camera (or phone), eager to preserve the love and laughter she saw around her. She was her family and friend’s photojournalist, their memory-keeper, archiving the everyday magic with a click.
She wrote moving poetry about her childhood, relationships and the world, filled with tender, thoughtful, and emotional reflections. She also penned a children’s book inspired by her beloved rescue dog, the late Murray, who held a very special place in her heart. Murray (her little pain-in-the-butt) who she trained to dance in circles and roll over on command, was her companion and the lucky recipient of her massive affection. After his passing, Chloe became her new furry sidekick, and Ginny’s devotion extended just as fully to her, showering her with the same warmth and adoration that defined all of Ginny’s close relationships.
Ginny had a deep and abiding love for her animals, especially her Murray and Chloe. They brought her comfort, laughter, and companionship, and she gave them her whole heart in return. Whether she was training them, cuddling them, dressing them up in cute outfits, or simply talking to them as if they understood every word (and somehow, they did), Ginny’s connection to her dogs was a reflection of her ability to connect.
Ginny’s true passion and most enduring legacy was her family and friends. Her heart was fullest when surrounded by those she loved. Spending time with her husband Michael at the house, weekend get-togethers with her children, grandchildren or friends: that was when she was happiest. Birthdays, performances, showers, weddings, or holiday dinners: she was always there, camera in hand, offering support, hugs, and joy. She gave freely of herself, offering. encouragement, laughter, and a listening ear.
She was a supporting, loving presence who celebrated every milestone with her family and friends. She seemed to remember every occasion, and made everyone she cared about feel seen and cherished. Her texts, emails, calls, Facebook messages, and thoughtful cards were all reminders of how deeply she valued connection. If you were lucky enough to be part of her orbit, you knew it. Ginny’s love and gratitude was big, bold, and unforgettable.
Ginny is survived by her devoted and loving husband, Michael Gasparre; her beloved children: Christopher Davidson, Andrea Davidson, Stephen Davidson, Deanna Farnell, Mike Gasparre, Patricia Gasparre, Marc Gasparre, and Diana Gallo Gasparre; her cherished grandchildren: Rachel Farnell, Natalie Farnell, Colin Gasparre, and Dominic Gasparre; her dear sister, Judy Gren; and her adored nieces, Sondra Hieber and Shelly Wammack Quintanilla.
She will be remembered always for her immense and profound ability to love, her boundless generosity, and her deep practice of gratitude she brought into every life she touched.
In accordance with her wishes, Ginny requested no flowers at her service. To honor her memory, and her profound love for her rescue dogs, please consider donating in her name to your local animal shelter.
