We honor and celebrate the life of Virginia Octaviano Carague – a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. A woman of profound faith and even deeper devotion, Virginia entered into eternal rest on April 12, 2026, at the age of 80 in Cerritos, California. Though she faced a long illness with courageous grace, her family finds peace in knowing she is finally free from pain and resting in the loving presence of the Lord.
Born on February 26, 1946, in Iloilo City, Philippines, to Claudio Octaviano and Rosa Prado, Virginia carried a warmth and kindness that made those around her feel instantly at home. After earning her Bachelor of Arts in English from the College of the Holy Spirit in 1966, she began her career in Manila before immigrating to the United States in 1976. It was in America that she reunited with Irenion. They married on February 9, 1977, and built a beautiful life together in Cerritos, centered around their only son, Thomas. Virginia was as dedicated in her professional life as she was in her personal one, providing 32 years of service to Arco-British Petroleum (BP) before retiring in 2009.
Virginia was the "quiet engine" of her family – a fierce protector and steady supporter who never sought the spotlight. In retirement, she embraced life’s simple joys: traveling across the Americas, Europe, and Asia with Irenion, and filling her home with the comforting aromas of Filipino cooking. Whether preparing classics like adobo and sinigang or her signature spaghetti casserole and beef tapa, every dish was a flavorful testament to her love.
Her greatest joy, however, was found in her role as a grandmother. To Nathaniel and Mia, she was a constant, gentle cheerleader. From watching them play and pick oranges in the backyard to being the very first to support a school fundraiser, Virginia’s love for her grandchildren was abundant. She watched them grow with a pride that needed no words, only the soft smile and steady hand that defined her life.
Virginia’s strength shaped the lives of those she held dear, and her legacy of grace will live on forever in the family that was her world. She is survived by her devoted husband, Irenion; her son, Thomas, and daughter-in-law, Ruth; her cherished grandchildren, Nathaniel and Mia; and her brother, Nestor. She joins in eternal rest her parents and her siblings, Rodolfo, Lydia, Velia, Arturo, Aida, and Alexander.
While Virginia has found her rest, the warmth of her smile and the steadiness of her love will remain with us always. She will be missed beyond measure and eternally remembered.
