Virgilio Merina, a talented architect and beloved family man, passed away on December 31, 2023, leaving behind a legacy of remarkable achievements and cherished memories. Born on October 24, 1948, Virgilio's journey was marked by his unwavering dedication to his profession, his ministries at church, his warm personality, and his love for his family.

Educated at the prestigious Mapua Institute of Technology in Manila, Philippines, Virgilio obtained a Bachelor of Science in Architecture. His education laid the foundation for his successful career and nurtured his lifelong passion for design and innovation.

Virgilio's distinguished career spanned across two continents. He worked on numerous architectural projects in Manila and Los Angeles, including the iconic Walt Disney Concert Hall. With exceptional skill and creativity, Virgilio left an indelible mark on the architectural landscape of these cities.

Beyond his professional achievements, Virgilio was known for his vibrant personality. With a great sense of humor and a compassionate heart, he brought joy to the lives of those around him. He was admired for his intelligence, problem-solving abilities, and creative thinking.

In addition to his work and wit, Virgilio had a range of hobbies and interests that enriched his life. He found solace in camping and outdoor activities, where he could immerse himself in the beauty of nature. Home improvement tasks gave him great satisfaction as he transformed spaces with his architectural expertise. Virgilio's culinary skills were admired by many as he delighted loved ones with Filipino desserts crafted from scratch. To unwind after long days, he took pleasure in watching crime shows and documentaries on television.

Above all else, Virgilio cherished his family. He was a loving husband to Zenaida and a doting father to their daughter Virzen. Their bond was unbreakable; they shared countless special moments together that will forever be treasured.

He is also remembered by his late father, Cornelio Sr., and his mother Antonia, who played a vital role in shaping the man he became.

To pay tribute to Virgilio's remarkable life, his family and friends will be hosting memorial services. A visitation will take place on January 17, 2024, at Forest Lawn - Covina Hills in Covina, CA. The visitation will begin at 9:00 am and conclude at 10:00 am. On January 18, 2024, a Funeral Service will be held at the Forest Lawn - Covina Hills - Church of our Heritage in Covina, CA. The service will commence at 2:30 pm and conclude at 3:30 pm. These services will provide an opportunity for loved ones to come together to celebrate Virgilio's life and share their memories.

Virgilio Merina will forever be remembered as a talented architect, brother, uncle, cherished friend, husband, and father. The joy he brought to those around him will never be forgotten. May his soul rest in eternal peace, until we meet again!
