Virgilio Yokota Ayala

On April 27, 2021, Virgilio Yokota Ayala (Bill) of Los Angeles, California passed away at the age of 76 from complications of COVID.

Bill will be lovingly remembered by his children May Fernandez (Rommel Fernandez) and Julius Ayala (Bettina Ayala); grandchildren: Mycah Ayala, Koston Ayala, Keira Fernandez, and Brendan Fernandez; sister Via Grande (husband Louis); sister Violet Cline; sister Vida Bernardo (husband Eugene). Bill will also be forever remembered by his close companion Maria Rosario Lee and her extended family. He will be dearly missed by many more friends and loved ones.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Virginia Santos; sister, Vera Reyes; brother, Venchi Ayala; and his parents, Cornelio Ayala and Irene Ayala.

Bill was born in the Philippines in 1945 and immigrated to the United States in early adulthood. He was a successful architectural engineer working for US Borax for more than 30 years. He was an active member of the Boron Lion's Club. Bill enjoyed time with his family, fishing, playing tennis, bowling, and being active when younger. He was also an incredible dancer and could out dance anyone on the floor even into his golden years. Bill enjoyed traveling and often spent time in the Philippines. Bill had the ability to make friends with complete strangers and always made others laugh. He will be remembered as a generous person and a man of faith.

A Celebration of Life is being held at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Covina Hills on June 7, 2021 at 12:00 noon.
