Violeta "Bolet" Callera, 79, was born on April 4, 1945, in Pasay City, Philippines. One of 11 children, she was the youngest daughter of Vicenta and Bernardo Pasion.
In her youth, her playful and lively personality earned her the title of "Princess of Hope" at school and the honor of being the "muse" of the basketball team. Her caring nature led her to become a certified CNA and beautician while living in the Philippines. On March 4, 1971, Violeta married Fernando Callera, and together they raised four children. Seeking a better life, the family immigrated to the United States on April 16, 1983, eventually making their home in Norwalk, California. While living in the U.S., she held many roles, working as a pressor for a renowned tailor and laundry service catering to Hollywood’s stars, a concessions manager at two movie theaters—including the iconic Cinerama Dome on Sunset Boulevard—a chef at several local Filipino restaurants, and a babysitter. However, her most cherished roles were those of mother, grandmother, and aunt. Violeta was a caring and loving soul who made sure everyone was well-fed and surrounded by laughter. Affectionately known as "everyone's Mama/Aunt," she loved all children. She was best known for her generosity, quick wit, spunky personality, incredible cooking, distinctive fashion sense, one-of-a-kind wisdom, and signature laugh. Her favorite pastimes included singing, gardening, taking pictures, collecting jewelry, talking on the phone, watching action movies, asking if you've eaten, leaving loving voicemails for her children and grandchildren, and using efficascent oil to cure almost every sickness/ailment. Violeta passed away on January 30, 2025, in her Norwalk home. She is survived by her husband, Fernando; daughter, Mari-Len "Len"; three sons, Glenn, Dennis, and Paul; two granddaughters, Katherine and Kassie; daughter-in-law, Linda; son-in-law, Alvin; and family dog, Alice. Violeta will be deeply missed by all, but her energy and unwavering love for her family and those she met will never be forgotten.
