Violeta "Violy" Abarquez Bagingito, 86, peacefully passed away on Monday, June 27, 2022, surrounded by loved ones. She was born in San Juan Batangas, Philippines on March 11, 1936, the daughter of late Victoriano Abarquez and Constancia Martinez Abarquez. She was the third oldest of six children. Violy attended Philippine Union College, where she met her future husband, Alberto "Berting" Bagingito. She graduated in 1957 with a major in Education and she worked as an elementary school teacher in Mindoro, Philippines until 1959.
Violy married Berting on April 15, 1959, in San Juan Batangas, Philippines. Berting moved to the United States in 1968 to initiate the pursuit of a better living, and Violy followed later in the same year. Together, they settled in Glendale, California. They had five children â Alwin, Emma, Delma, Edmund, and Myrna, and one honorary child - Darlyn.
Violy was a strong woman of faith and loved her family dearly â especially her grandchildren. She was a diligent worker, working full-time to help support the family. She was an active member of Central Filipino Church where she served for many years â in Sabbath school and hospitality. She was an incredible cook and was often in her backyard tending to her garden. Despite suffering a major stroke in 2003, Violy lived on to enjoy many more years spending time with family and friends, fellowship with church and traveling the world with Berting.
Violy is survived by her husband, Berting; five children and their spouses â Alwin and Tina Bagingito, Emma and Matthew Kelly, Delma and Dean Ines, Edmund and Julia Bagingito, and Myrna and Christopher Lau; one honorary child and spouse - Darlyn and Kyle, eleven grandchildren and spouse â Austin and Liz, Carly, Ryan, Morgan, Ian, Mason, Sean, Marcus, Jana, Deanna, and Katie; two honorary grandchildren - Dylan and Nolan; one great-grandchild â Michael; and one sibling â Leah Abarquez Manalang.
A Memorial Service, in celebration of the life of Violeta Abarquez Bagingito, will be held on Saturday, July 16, 2022, 5 pm at Central Filipino Church (777 Colorado Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90041. Please note â for your own safety and for the safety of others, it is highly recommended to wear a face mask.
