Vilma Insignares

Vilma Insignares, affectionately known as "Nana," or “Lula,” passed away on February 27, 2026, leaving behind a cherished legacy that will forever resonate through the lives of her family and friends. Born on May 8, 1940, Vilma dedicated her life to her loved ones, serving as an unwavering protector and source of motivation for those around her. Her loving and caring nature, paired with her good sense of humor and a hint of stubbornness, made her not only a beloved mother but a pillar of strength in the lives of many.

In her earlier years, Vilma worked in the manufacturing industry before retiring to focus on what she loved most: her family. She was known for her exquisite Colombian cooking that would fill her home with warmth and joy, creating lasting memories around the dinner table. Her passion for life shone through in everything she did, especially when she danced to the lively rhythms of Cumbia and salsa. For her, dancing was never just a hobby; it was a celebration of the love she held for life and her family.

Vilma was especially proud of her children—Ingrid Hitt, Seb Galeano, Shirley Geihm, and Jackie Viers—and their accomplishments. Her pride knew no bounds as she nurtured and guided them through life, instilling in them the values that would help them succeed. This proud mother also enjoyed watching her legacy grow with nine grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren, each of whom brought her immense joy.

Despite the heartache of losing her daughter, Adela Mladenik, Vilma's spirit remained unyieldingly strong. She faced life's trials with grace, always choosing to uplift and inspire those around her. Vilma’s memories will forever live on in the hearts of her family, who will treasure the times spent together—dancing, celebrating, and sharing meals that held not just food, but love.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at the visitation service on March 10, 2026, from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM, to be held at Forest Lawn - Covina Hills, located at 21300 Via Verde Drive, Covina, CA. Following this, a funeral service will take place on March 11, 2026, at the Church of Our Heritage within Forest Lawn - Covina Hills, beginning at 9:30 AM and concluding at 10:30 AM.
