March 26, 1934 — June 29, 2025

Riverside, CA

Victor Celeste Charnetsky, 91, of Riverside, California, passed away peacefully on June 29, 2025. A devoted husband, father, and beloved uncle, he was known for his intellect, generosity, and deep curiosity about the world.

Born on March 26, 1934, in Iloilo City, Philippines, to Vladislav and Jovita Charnetsky, Victor grew up in Manila’s Santa Ana and Mandaluyong districts. He graduated from the University of Santo Tomas with a degree in Electrical Engineering and began his professional career at Schmidt & Oberle.

In 1963, Victor moved to Germany, where he worked for MAN, SE, and immersed himself in Bavarian culture. He later immigrated to the United States, joining his brother and family in Arizona before settling with his parents in San Francisco. He worked as an engineer for AT&T until his retirement in 1993.

Victor married Leticia Lurenana, with whom he shared a devoted partnership of 51 years. Together, they raised their son, Victor Stefan, and created a home rooted in faith, science, and family tradition.

A lifelong learner, Victor had a passion for astronomy, ham radio (call sign N6YNI), science, and engineering. He was an active member of the ham radio community and built much of his own radio equipment. He was also a collector of coins and a faithful attendee of Saturday evening Mass, supporting his wife’s involvement in prayer and church groups.

Victor’s legacy is one of discipline, intellectual curiosity, and unwavering love for family. His life was a testament to lifelong learning, quiet wisdom, and the enduring power of family and community. He is survived by his wife, Leticia; his son, Victor Stefan; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins whose lives he touched deeply.
