Vicente "Bomboy" Huab, Jr., 76, born on January 24, 1948, passed away January 11, 2025. He resided in Beaumont, CA at the time of his passing.
Bomboy grew up in a little town of Putiao, Sorsogon. He was the middle child of 9 children, he had 8 siblings, 1 sister and 7 brothers (2 twins passed away when they were very young). Bomboy was the rascal of the siblings. He always pushed the limits and patience of his family, especially his parents Vicente Sr. and Amparo Huab. He became an electrician and worked with his brothers on electrical projects throughout the Philippines. He took a project in February of 1979 in a little town called Catarman, Samar, and on February 14 of 1979 he met his wife Nandette. A few weeks later, they married in March of 1979. Actually, to ensure Nandette knew his love for her, they married two more times after that.
He migrated to the states and was able to bring his family from the Philippines to America in 1987. He and Nandette raised their daughters in Norwalk, Ca. He was a girl dad who shared his sensitivity and showed them what unconditional love meant. Instead of disciplining by taking things away, he taught them right from wrong, and how to be a good person. Aside from life lessons, he always wanted his kids to also enjoy life and have fun. He always said to them "It's not always 6 o'clock", meaning, in life you will experience your lows but you'll also experience your highs.
Bomboy enjoyed cooking. Food was one of his love languages; he showed his love and care by cooking or always feeding his loved ones. He was a great cook that always wanted to ensure that everyone has eaten and has eaten well. He and Nandette used to always gift food to family and friends. Whether it was a baked ham during the holidays or their specialty "Bicol Express". Aside from cooking, he also enjoyed watching Laker games at home, listening to music, especially Elvis Presley, taking his grandchildren shopping, spending time with family, and of course doing some gambling. He played Mah-jong during his younger years, and in the latter he enjoyed taking Nandette to the local casinos.
Bomboy was not a man of wealth, but was wealthy with family and friendships that overflowed with loved. He was a kind man to all that could spark a conversation with anyone, whether it's someone at the grocery store, at the airport, or just a stranger sitting nearby. If anyone needed him for anything, he always wanted to be that helping hand. There was never an "ask'" that would say no to. He always said "No problem, that's easy", even though it may have been difficult. He always wanted to be helpful in any way possible.
He is survived by his wife, Nandette, his daughters + son-in-laws, Kara + Omar & Mary + Mel, and his grandchildren - Marley, Mason, Maxwell, and Maddox. To his wife, he was her partner in life and her "Salvador". To his daughters, he was their McGyver - he was small but mighty - but a man who can build and fix anything. To his grandchildren he was their Papa, the one who spoiled them with shopping, eating out, and making sure they didn't have to walk home from school. And to everyone else, he was Bomboy or Papa - a funny, charismatic, helpful, loving brother, relative, and friend.
For all of you who are reading this, know that Bomboy cared and loved you, and we hope you have experienced his friendship, his kindness, and his love. Thank you for celebrating and honoring his life with us.
