Vicenta Chavira

Vicenta C. Chavira, 86, of Coachella, CA passed away on February 20, 2024, in Coachella, CA of natural causes. She was born on February 23, 1937, to Rosa Madrueno and Severiano Cocula in Jalisco, Mexico. She married Leonardo Chavira on June 16, 1952. She retired from California Redi-Date after 40 years of service and became a member of the Coachella Valley Senior Center for 30 years and a member of the Chicas Doradas Club for 25 Years. She served as Queen for City of Coachella from 2022-2023. She is survived by daughters; Libby (Marty) Rodriguez of Coachella, CA, Angie (Gerardo) Aguirre of Independence, Oregon. Son’s; Javier (Mary) Chavira of Fontana, CA, Ernie (Maria) Chavira of Thousand Palms, CA, Jaime (Martha) Chavira of Indio, CA. As well as 11 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren. She was proceeded in death by her husband Leonardo Chavira, her parents, Rosa and Severiano Cocula of Jalisco, brother; Emedio of Jalisco, sisters; Elpidia Cocula of Jalisco, Guadalupe Escobar of Jalisco, and Maria Concepcion Rubio of Jalisco. A visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. March 18, 2024, with a rosary from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Forest Lawn Coachella, CA. A funeral service will be at 9:00 a.m. on March 19, 2024, at Our Lady or Soledad Church, Coachella; Interment will follow at the Coachella Valley Cemetery, Coachella, CA. Arrangements are under the care of Forest Lawn, Coachella, CA.
