Vergil Espiritu Valdez, lovingly known as “Ver” or “Daddy Ver”, passed away peacefully on April 26, 2026, in Menifee, California, at the age of 79. Born on May 8, 1946, in Marikina, Philippines, he journeyed through life with quiet strength, a keen mind, and a deep, steady love for those around him.
Vergil’s life was anchored in devotion to family. He was predeceased by Beatriz, his beloved wife of over 43 years, with whom he built a home filled with warmth, laughter, and unwavering support. Their love lives on through their children—Raddie, Rinna, and Rica—who carry forward the values their parents instilled. In time, Vergil found companionship once more with Linda, his devoted wife of over nine years, who brought renewed joy and comfort into his later years.
He cherished his siblings, Jess and Evelyn, whose lifelong bond with him remained a source of connection, memory, and shared history.
His grandchildren—Joshua, EJ, Jake, Raejon, Jaden, Alanna, Lincoln, and Jeantriz—were the bright lights of his days, each visit filling his heart with pride and delight. Vergil also embraced his step‑grandchildren, Christian and Pauline, with the same warmth and affection, welcoming them fully into the circle of his love. He shared meaningful bonds with Jun, Alan, and Lindsay, who became cherished members of his ever‑growing family.
A retired accountant, Vergil was admired for his sharp intellect and steadfast dedication. Yet his brilliance extended far beyond his profession. He found quiet joy in the worlds of sudoku and crosswords, reveled in the strategy of chess, and was known as a skilled mahjong player—each game a reflection of his analytical mind and his love for thoughtful challenge and companionship. He also cherished the gentle solace of ballads, music that revealed the depth of his emotions and the tenderness of his spirit.
Vergil was also a lifelong learner with an impressive memory for history, politics, and the great conflicts that shaped the past. He could recall events, timelines, and figures with striking clarity, often sharing insights that revealed both his curiosity and his depth of understanding.
He also carried a lasting enthusiasm for basketball. Whether watching a game or sharing spirited conversations about his favorite teams, the sport brought him excitement, connection, and a sense of youthful energy that never faded.
Though naturally shy and soft‑spoken, Vergil possessed a warmth that drew people close. His kindness, humility, and quiet wisdom left a lasting imprint on all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Vergil leaves behind a legacy of love, curiosity, and inner strength—a life lived with intention, grace, and heart. May his memory bring comfort and peace to all who hold him dear.
