Valerie Joy Mcnair

Valerie McNair, 91 years old, a long-time resident of Orange, California, departed this life on Tuesday, December 29, 2020, at her current residence in Upland, California.

Valerie was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, on January 13, 1929, to her late parents Ethel and Henry Meyer. Although she was an only child, Valerie had many cousins who lived close by and treated her as their sibling. Valerie attended the New Orleans public schools, graduated high school as salutatorian at 16 years of age, and obtained her degree from Tulane University. Following her education, she worked for Sears Roebuck Company and then GlobalSantaFe Corporation, from where she retired. Valerie was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother. She is survived by her three children Jeanine (Doug) Hiteshew, Jan (Kurt) Svahn, and Albert Daniel (Rosa) McNair, eight grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren, all of whom cherished their time with her.

A lifelong member of the church, Valerie began her faith as an infant at the Jackson Avenue Evangelical and Reformed Church in New Orleans and then as a member of the Lutheran Church.

Valerie will be buried at Forest Lawn Covina Hills in Covina, California. Services will be held on February 20, 2021 at 3:00 PM.
