Plaistow, NH: U.S. Army Sgt. George E. Schena, 27, passed away on December 16, 2011 following a traffic accident on interstate 495 in Merrimac, MA.

The son of Thomas W. and Sharon A. (Benjamin) Schena of Plaistow, George has served in the U.S. Army since November of 2005 completing two tours in Iraq totaling 27 months of combat duty.  He was stationed in Fort Hood, Texas with the 1st Calvary Division and was later transferred to Fort Drum, New York with the 10th Mountain Division.

Mr. Schena grew up in Plaistow and attended the Pollard School, Timberlane Regional Middle School and Timberlane Regional High School.

A member of the Masonic Lodge of Watertown, New York,  
he enjoyed traveling, landscaping, carpentry and restoring classic automobiles, especially his 1980 Chevrolet Pick-up.

Besides his parents he leaves behind his wife Tara Correa of California; two brothers Thomas M. Schena of Haverhill and Michael W. Schena and his wife Tasha of East Hampstead and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Relatives and friends may call on Wednesday, December 21, 2011 from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main Street, Rte. 121A, Plaistow, NH.  His funeral service with full military honors will be held on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home with burial to follow in Plaistow Cemetery.
