Tutiek Tirtorahardja

Tutiek "Tuty" Tirtorahardja (Tjoa Tjwie Tjhian) peacefully passed away at Kindred Hospital in West Covina on November 3, 2018. She was born on August 9, 1958, in Surabaya, Indonesia. She was the second child of Tjoa Gwan Tjoen and Liem Giam Nio, but the only one to survive infancy. Tuty enjoyed her childhood growing up in a tight-knit family; although she did not grow up in a Christian household, she would discover God and start to be active in the church community while in elementary school. Her upbringing would set the course for her life as a quintessential servant of the Lord.

Tuty was a stellar student, starting from elementary school until the end of her academic studies. After graduating high school at the top of her class, she went on to earn a B.A. degree in English Literature from Sanata Dharma University in Yogyakarta, followed by a Dra. degree in English from Satya Wacana University in June of 1982. While in college, Tuty met her future husband, Petrus, and they were married on August 7, 1982. They would be blessed with three children: Lilian, Ronald, and Magdalena. Following her graduation, Tuty went on to have a distinguished 13-year career as an English teacher.

Tuty and Petrus would serve in GKI (Gereja Kristen Indonesia) before immigrating to the United States in 1995 to continue their work for the Lord in various churches in California. For over 30 years, Tuty faithfully put God first and exemplified true Christian values with her life. She has fought the good fight, finished her course, kept the faith--and has received her crown of righteousness. Tuty is survived by her husband, two daughters, son, son-in-law, and granddaughter.
