Tuckman Ng

Tuckman Ng was born on May 22, 1928, in Honolulu, Hawaii. He passed away February 4, 2019.
Mr. Ng was raised in Guangdong province, China, and returned to Honolulu in the late 1940s. He worked as a compositor for a Chinese language newspaper, where he met his eventual wife, Lily Bow Quon Yee.
Drafted into the US Army at Schofield Barracks in 1952, he served as a medic at US Army 2nd Evacuation hospital in Germany, attaining the rank of Corporal.
Returning home, he took advantage of benefits offered under the GI Bill and studied automobile and aircraft mechanics and was employed at Douglas Aircraft in Long Beach.
Aerospace did not supply steady employment, so he turned to the restaurant industry. He was employed at a succession of prominent Chinese restaurants, including Kan's in San Francisco, Ming's in Palo Alto, and finally Wu's Garden in Santa Monica, where he worked for 35 years until his retirement, serving many celebrities from the film industry.
Tuckman married Lily Bow Quon Yee in 1957. The couple had three children: Norma, Stanley, and Ronald. Through their hard work and encouragement, all their children were able to graduate from college, continuing on to professional careers in the banking, aerospace, electronics, and computer networking industries.
In retirement, Tuckman traveled the US and China, and settled in San Gabriel, Monterey Park, and then in Rosemead, at the time of his passing.

Funeral Arrangements are under the direction of Forest Lawn, Covina Hills, California.
