Todd L. Barbera, 45, of Atkinson and formerly Haverhill, MA and Nashua, died on Friday, October 11, 2013 at his home surrounded by his family after a lengthy battle with cancer.

Born in Lawrence, MA, son of Louis A. and Dolores E. "Dee" (Palmieri) Barbera he was educated in Haverhill, MA before attending Central Catholic High School in Lawrence where he was a member of the Varsity Track team. He graduated from Central Catholic with the Class of 1986 and went on to attend Merrimack College.

Mr. Barbera worked as a systems administrator for SBLI in Woburn, MA for the past 8 years. Previously he worked in the same capacity for WGBH and the John Hancock Life Insurance Company. An avid Bruins fan, he enjoyed hiking, bird watching, nature and wildlife and motorcycling.

He was an active member of the Atkinson Lions Club and served as the club's webmaster and member of the Membership Committee. He also served the town of Atkinson as a member of the Town Technology Committee in 2008 and 2009 and was a past committee Chairman. In 2010 he was elected to the Town Budget Committee serving one year as Vice Chairman and one year as Chairman of the committee, and in 2012 Mr. Barbera was elected to the Board of Selectman and was presently serving as Chairman.

He is survived by his wife of 13 years, Leslie L. (Nikoden) Barbera, his father, Louis A. Barbera, Jr. of Port Charlotte, FL, his mother, Dolores E. "Dee" (Palmieri) Barbera of Port Charlotte, his step-sons, Jason E. Roberts of Atkinson, and Kyle A. Roberts of Clermont, FL, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins, and his two dogs, Schatzie and Bizmark.

Relatives and friends may call on Tuesday, October 15, 2013 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main Street, Route 121A, Plaistow, NH. His funeral will take place on Wednesday, October 16, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at the Atkinson Congregational Church, Main St., Atkinson. Burial will follow in Atkinson Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund, Massachusetts General Hospital, 100 Cambridge Street, Suite 1310, Boston, MA 02114.
