Thomas William Green

December 5, 1941 — October 17, 2013

Thomas William Green, a sports enthusiast, collector of Lionel trains and occasionally successful sport fisherman, passed away on October 17, at age 71.

A graduate of Port Chester High School and Cornell University, Tom diligently followed his beloved "Big Red" in nearly every sport, regardless of record. After graduating, Tom returned to his hometown of Port Chester, New York and began his 33 year career with GTE, culminating with his appointment to Vice President, Human Resources. The relationships he developed during his tenure were some of the strongest, most valued of his lifetime, but most importantly, GTE is where he met his wife of 25 years, Krys Moore.

Tom had a deep love of the ocean and sport fishing. Whether surf casting or trolling in Long Island Sound on the "Brass Ring," he was always happiest with a line in the water. For Tom, it was never really about "the catch." It was an opportunity to spend time with those he held dear, most importantly, his daughter, Gwen and son, Kevin. "There is certainly something in angling that tends to produce a gentleness of spirit and a pure sincerity of mind." (Washington Irving).

Proud Granddad to Rowen (11), Norah (4) and Elsa (2), Tom beamed with pride as he watched them grow. Every second spent with his granddaughters were full of smiles and bright eyes. His family was his sunshine.

A viewing will be held on Thursday, October 24 at Craft Memorial Home in Port Chester, New York from 4:00PM 8:00PM. Funeral Mass will take place at Our Lady of Mercy Parish in Port Chester, New York on Friday, October 25 at 9:30AM. Additional ceremonies will be held in Rancho Mirage, California at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Phillip and Carol Traub Parkinson's Center at Eisenhower Medical Center in Rancho Mirage, California.
