Thien Say Lim

June 15, 1950 — March 14, 2015

Thien Say Lim (林天才) went home to the Lord on March 14, 2015 at the age of 64. Say, an ethnic Hainanese Chinese Cambodian American, was born and raised in Kampong Trach, Kampot Province, Cambodia. Although life was hard in Kampong Trach, that did not stop Say. At seven years old, Say, the eldest son of ten children, became a young ambitious entrepreneur. After attending Chinese school in the morning, Say assisted his mom in peddling his mom's homemade Cambodian-Hainanese desserts. Despite the tribulations associated with the Khmer Rouge, Say, through the grace of God, was spared. Arriving in California with very little, Say drew on his entrepreneurial experiences from his childhood and opened his own doughnut shop business. He was the owner of the Donut Den in Sun Valley, California for 27 years, where his doughnuts brought smiles to many people and where he made many friends.

Devout husband of Meing Wong of 40 years. Survived by his wife and three children, Melody Lim (Chad Khun), Robert Lim, and Susa Lim (Whalen Peete); mother Phoang Chhy, granddaughter Tabitha Khun, and grandson Lucas Khun.

Family and friends are welcome to visit Thursday, March 19th, from 3:00 to 7:00 PM at Forest Lawn Hollywood Hills, 6300 Forest Lawn Drive, Los Angeles, CA. Funeral Service will be held Friday, March 20th at 9:30 AM, at the same location at the Church of the Hill.
