Therese Lavoie

Therese Lavoie, 98, born on October 11, 1927, in Embrun, Canada, passed away April 19, 2026 in West Covina, California. Moving from Montreal, Canada to Los Angeles with her first husband (Jean Paul Lavoie) in 1963 along with their 3-year-old daughter, Sylvie Cecile, Therese retained her loveable French-Canadian accent. She lived life to the fullest, with her last four years living at Merrill Gardens Assisted Living. She was preceded in her passing by her husband Jean Paul Lavoie and her husband Harold (Hal) Nichols, in addition to her daughter (Sylvie Cecile Lavoie Miller). She is survived by her grandson Justin Miller and his wife, Suzanne, in addition to her second husband's (Hal Nichols) family, which includes Kirk, Adelaide, and Tate Nichols, along with Nora, David, Logan, and Jake Karlen.

To Ms. Lavoie, life was a banquet, living life in a fun, loving, and positive outlook. Therese's life took her down many paths including being a professional nanny, day-care provider, Opera Singer, stage and cabaret performer, in addition to being a French teacher and sketch artist. She was even teaching French classes at Merrill Gardens just prior to her passing. The best aspect of Ms. Lavoie's fun-loving approach to life was her ability to attract friends and retain long-time relationships—with several friendships that spanned over 50 years. Her outgoing personality earned her the nickname "The Queen"! Her family and all of her friends will miss her dearly, but we find joy when remembering the amazing life she lived. Rest in Peace, our Queen!
