Theodore Gustav Schoppe, age 95, passed away into eternal paradise with our Lord and Savior on Monday, August 13, 2018 at 11:55am at his home with his son at his bedside. He resided in Laguna Niguel, California at the time of his passing.
Ted was born on September 15, 1922, in Salt Lake City, Utah, He was the youngest son of seven children born to German immigrants Wilhelm and Louise Schoppe. He attended grade school at Ensign Elementary school in Salt Lake City, Utah. And later Provo High School. He also completed his undergraduate studies in Utah but then went on to attend Dental School at the University of Oregon and later University of Southern California Graduate School of Dentistry where he obtained a Masters of Dental Surgery and a Doctorate in Orthodontics.
Ted married Violet Beth Harding in 1942 with whom he had four children: Vicky, Cherae, Catherine, and Daniel.
Ted served in the US Army during the latter part of WWII and then re-enlisted when the Korean war started in 1950 serving as a Captain in the Army Dental Corp at Fort Carson performing dentistry and dental surgery for his fellow servicemen.
Ted passed the Oregon, Utah and California State Boards and practiced Dentistry in each of those states during his professional career.
After many years of straightening the teeth of numerous patients from all over southern California, Ted finally closed his practices and semi-retired in the early 80's. After that, he continued working part-time for a few more years doing Orthodontics at a dental clinic in El Toro, California.
Ted believed in generous giving and serving others. Besides his military service to his country, he also served over the years with the United Cerebral Palsy foundation, the Boy Scouts of America and various positions within his church.
Ted's lifelong interests were fishing, hunting, boating, horses, woodworking and gardening.
Ted is survived by his daughter Catherine and son Daniel as well as 10 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his parents, three sisters, three brothers, his first wife Violet, his second wife Margaret, and two daughters Cherae and Vicky.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 15th at 11:30am. Internment will be done following the service. There will be a viewing on Friday, September 14th from 5pm until 9pm. All services will be at Forest Lawn in Cypress, California.
