Thekla " Pony " House

Thekla House, 71, born on February 3, 1941, in Zell/Mosel, Germany, passed away April 20, 2012. She resided in La Puente at the time of her passing.

Thekla House born February 3,1941 in Zell on the Mosel Germany Thekla affectionately known as "Pony" to her friends never knew her father Nicolas Lamberty as shortly after she was born he became missing in action in Russia. Her mother Agnes Lamberty was receiving War veteran benefits and this resulted in a nomadic life style always moving from place to place. She remembers sleeping on beds of potato sacks and hearing the bombs burst nearby At age thirteen she graduated from lower school and went to work as a maid in a hotel where she earned two Marks per day (50 Cents). At age seventeen She met and married Vincent House an Air Force serviceman. She immigrated with her husband to the USA. and settled in La Puente in 1960. where they have lived since, She earned her citizenship in 1977. Thekla and Vince founded three successful businesses and in 1998 Sold the major enterprise and retired. The other two were left to their Daughter and Son in law to continue running. At this time She began working as an unpaid volunteer at St Joseph School La Puente serving daily for thirteen years to the needs of the children and staff. She retired in January of 2012 Due to ongoing health problems She died on April 20, 2012 while she was happily walking with her husband and her two dogs in Sharbarum Park. Thekla is survived by Her husband Vince House a Councilmember at the City of La Puente, three children, Liana, Kevin, and Leslie along with five grandchildren.
