Terrence Wolfsen

Terrance “Terry” Harold Wolfsen passed away peacefully in Reston, Virginia, on Tuesday, August 12, 2025. Terry was born in Los Angeles, California, in 1949, to Mary Jane Wolfsen (Hansen) and Floyd Wolfsen. He joined the Naval ROTC while at the University of Southern California and entered the US Navy as a lieutenant upon graduation in 1971.

During his 20-year Navy career, he traveled the world, working as a communications officer on ships stationed in Japan and several in San Diego. He also served at Naval stations in Nevada, Guam, Hawaii, South Carolina, and finally Washington, DC. He retired as a Lieutenant Commander after working at the Defense Information Systems Agency, where he then worked until 2018 as a civilian. During his service, he received an MS degree, again from USC.

Family, friends, and co-workers remember Terry as quiet, calm, and incredibly organized. He was also very kind and giving to his loved ones. He enjoyed discussing history and Science Fiction, and was well read in both topics. Terry had a deep, hearty laugh and enjoyed regular meals with former co-workers, and talking to his family, all of whom live on the West Coast.

He is survived by his sister Erla Curtin, his niece Linda Fern, her husband Tony, nephew Larry Marley, his wife Nancy, their children Christopher and Laura, her husband Sean, and their children Kyle and Marley, as well as his nephew David Marley, his wife Deb, and their children Olivia and Cordelia.

He will be buried next to his parents at Forest Lawn, Hollywood Hills in California. In Virginia, a celebration of life for Terry is planned for Mid-September.
