Teresita Medrano

Teresita Medrano, 75, was born on August 27, 1948, in Manila, Philippines, and passed away on July 22, 2024, after bravely battling cancer.

Teresita, the daughter of Sylvester Tapales and Amelia Rionda, made her way to the United States with her loving husband, Rolando, and their daughters, Amelia, Maria Aleli, Maria Ailleen, and Ann Yvette. A dedicated homemaker and the epitome of a matriarch, Teresita was a pillar of strength and compassion, creating a warm and nurturing home for her family. Her greatest joy came from caring for her grandchildren, investing her time and love in shaping their lives.

With a passion for dancing that she carried throughout her life, Teresita never missed a chance to move to the music, whether on the dance floor or in the comfort of her living room. Her culinary skills were legendary, with her dishes like Embutido, Kare-Kare, and Morcon becoming cherished traditions during Nochebuena celebrations. Her kitchen was a place of love and generosity, where she shared her creations with genuine care, leaving a lasting impression on all who sat at her table.

Teresita is preceded in death by her parents, Sylvestre Tapales and Amelia Rionda, as well as her brother, Jan Michael Tapales. She is survived by her devoted husband, Rolando Medrano; her children, Amelia, Maria Aleli, Maria Ailleen, and Ann Yvette; and her siblings, Joy, Joesyl, and Jessica Tapales.

Visitation to honor Teresita's memory will take place from 2:00 to 8:00 PM on Thursday, August 15, and Friday, August 16, 2024, at the Patriot’s Chapel at Forest Lawn Cypress. 

A mass of remembrance will be held on Saturday, August 17, 2024, at 9 AM at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Bellflower, followed by interment at Forest Lawn Cypress.
