Teresa Solis, a beloved mother, grandmother, and sister, passed away peacefully on November13, 2024, in West Covina, California. Born on October 30, 1934, in Nogales Sonora, Mexico, Teresa lived a life filled with love, resilience, and undeniable strength.
When she immigrated to Tucson, Arizona, in 1985, Teresa became both a caregiver and a devoted mother, working two jobs to ensure her children had the best opportunities in life. Her unwavering dedication to her family highlighted her role as a strong woman, embodying hard work, compassion, and an infectious sense of humor. Teresa had a unique ability to bring joy to those around her with her playful phrases. She would leave her loved ones laughing, often saying things like “you know, see you later alligator, don’t forget to come back or pipippi ya vamos llegando a penjamo.”
Teresa completed the sixth grade and taught herself English while working in border boutiques, selling handcrafts to Americans. Her thirst for knowledge and desire to better herself was evident in every aspect of her life. Beyond her remarkable work ethic, she was passionate about reading, singing, and dancing. Teresa's zest for life turned any moment into a celebration, and her melodic spirit resonated with all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Her legacy lives on through her loving family: her daughter, Berenice Gonzalez; sons, David Gonzalez and Roberto Solis; cherished grandchildren Joana, Galileah, and Matteo; son-in-law Octavio Soto; and her siblings, Maty, Lupe, Maye, Lydia, Maria, and Jose. Each of them carries forward her compassionate nature, her delightful humor, and the resilient spirit she embodied throughout her life. Teresa is preceded in death by her parents, Socorro and Gregorio Solís, and her brothers, Goyo and Tony.
Teresa’s journey will be honored with funeral services held at Forest Lawn - Covina Hills - Memory Chapel on November 29, 2024, starting at 5:30 PM, followed by another service on November 30, 2024, at 2:30 PM.
