Ted T. Gruver, 91, passed away peacefully on September 25, 2023, surrounded by his loving family, in his home in Glendale, California. He was devoted to his family, a savvy businessman and a fun-loving person.
Ted was born on October 20, 1931, the only child of Harold and Hortense Gruver and raised in New York City, New York. As a teenager, he drove cross country to the West Coast, settling in Los Angeles and eventually also relocating his mother with him. He had a variety of jobs as a machinist before establishing Pacific Motor Company, a car dealership,in El Monte, California.
Ted married Margarita Irarrazabal on October 27, 1967. They settled in Glendale, where they raised their two children, Anna and Charles. Both Ted and Margarita instilled a love of family, care of community, the importance of education, and a strong work ethic in their children.
Ted was an established businessman who owned Pacific Motor Company and Pacific Motor Auto Center collectively for over 50 years. As a businessman, he was committed to hard work, honesty, and fairness.
He was strong-willed, loyal, and generous. Ted was completely devoted to his family and supported his children and grandchildren through their educational and life aspirations.
Ted relished going out to eat at various restaurants to enjoy a good steak, raw oysters, dim sum or sushi. And let’s not forget desserts, particularly anything with chocolate, especially a decadent chocolate sundae.He liked watching Westerns, World War II documentaries, and especially enjoyed a thrilling spy movie. Ted was a great lover of animals, cars and an avid collector of coins.
He enjoyed the best of life to the very end. He will be missed beyond measure.

Ted is survived by his wife, Margarita, children, Anna and Charles, daughter-in-law, Marcia, Charles’ fiancé, Siera, and grandchildren, Joaquin and Julian.
